Talisman

a talisman, ultimately from Greek telesma or from the Greek word "talein" which means "to initiate into the mysteries", consists of any object intended to bring good luck and/or protection to its owner. The use of Talisman was accepted as normal by secular, religious, and "scientific" authorities. Almost anything could serve as an amulet -- a red string wound around the wrist, a stone carried in a small pouch around the neck, or a piece of iron tied to one's bed. Amber pendants were worn to preserve chastity, and used as rosary beads or talismans against evil and dark forces. Amber was burned along with non-fossil tree resins, such as frankincense, myrrh, and copal to dispel evil spirits and fumigate worldly nuisances such as mosquitoes. Sailors burned amber on ships to drive away sea serpents and the perils of the deep. An amber talisman is for me an object, a pendant, which communicates on non-verbal level. Jewellery emits signals. The signals which originate from thought, ideas and concepts. These pulsate in the space and communicate. My main idea is to show talisman as a jewelry object which becomes its power by wearing as a pendant.
